Rev. Malachi Alexander is a compassionate, prophetic, and visionary pastoral leader whose ministry bridges the Black Church tradition, community advocacy, and Wesleyan discipleship. He was appointed to New Hope United Methodist Church in July 2025 by the North Georgia Annual Conference and comes with a deep commitment to nurturing spiritual growth, revitalizing congregational life, and building Christ-centered community engagement.
A native of Camden, South Carolina, Rev. Alexander began preaching at the age of 16 and was the youngest licensed minister in his Baptist association. He was ordained as a reverend in 2023 under the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church Association. For nearly seven years, he has served in Baptist, Presbyterian, and United Methodist contexts, giving leadership to ministries in youth discipleship, family systems development, social justice, and educational equity.
Rev. Alexander holds a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies with a minor in Religious Studies from the University of South Carolina, where he graduated with Graduation with Leadership Distinction in Professional and Civic Engagement. During his time at USC, he served as Co-President of the Methodist Student Network, a Civil Rights Research Assistant for the Center for Civil Rights History and Research and was widely recognized for his ability to lead multi-faith and multi-racial coalition work.
As pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church, Rev. Alexander seeks to lead with humility, boldness, and care as the church steps faithfully into the next chapter of its historic journey.
